It has been a long time since Jonathan Miller produced an opera at the ENO, so his new production of La Boheme is long awaited. This programme features first an interview with the popular tenor Alfie Boe where he first talks about his recording career. To get a copy of the album I've featured in the programme go to the Classic FM website on: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Classic-FM-Presents-Alfie-Boe/dp/B001COTNZ6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1233153434&sr=8-3
Then, former general director of the English National Opera Dennis Marks interviews Jonathan Miller about this production as well as his approach to directing in general.
If you're interested in going to see the production, here is the link to the ENO's booking page for La Boheme: https://www.tickets.eno.org/show_events_list.asp
The music used in this podcast is from the Naxos lable featuring Luba Orgonasova as Mimi, Jonathan Welch as Rodolfo, Carmen gonzales as Muzetta and Fabio Previati as Marcello, with the Czecho-Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra (Bratislava) conducted by Will Humburg.

the interview (Report) how reassuring to know that both Jonathan and Alfie retain some innocence regarding their roles in this production. |
