Forum: Best first opera to see
introductory operas

Like any passionate opera lover, I've taken a number of friends to their "firsts".  "Norma," "La Fille du Regiment," and "Cenerentola" were all quite successful introductions.  Tastes and prior experiences vary so much, though, that I focus at least as much on finding a "helpful" production that clarifies the action as on finding an "easy" opera.

My father started me off on The Barber of Seville.

I've loved Italian opera, particularly Rossini, ever since.
